The date is set for the annual Art in the Park on Sunday the 3rd of October from 2-5pm in the beautiful Queens Gardens. This one promises to be bigger and better than ever before with opportunities and lots of space to create your very own spider web instillation, explore the nature table, design your own story stones, create sand mandalas, build imaginative worlds and fairy gardens, design and make wearable art, help build a life sized trashosarus plus the messy fun and physics of pendulum paintings and so much more. Bookings essential.

Cost $20.00 per child or $30.00 family pass

Art in the park is a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to create art and explore art elements in one of Townsville's biggest backyards - Queens Gardens. Each year Scribbles and Squiggles holds an Art in the park event where children have the freedom to explore all of their senses in open natural surroundings. It is a wonderful event for the whole family. Keep watching for next year's ideas and registration. The event has gained so much popularity that some families book a year in advance.

Now in its third year Scribbles & Squiggle's annual art in the park event was a huge success. Children delighted in powerful Nart collisions - collisions between nature and art. This year children explored the sensory paint trail with their entire body. They loved putting on their gumboots, jumping, hopping and sliding to mix paint and repeat patterns. Building vibrantly coloured moon stand sculptures, creating a collaborative paintings using the most unusual tools. Using clay, found objects from nature to build nests, cocoons, and architectural structures. Discovering texture with watercolour paper, wax resist and dyes.

2008 saw Art and the Park reach new levels of what is possible in the world of art. Children and parents alike discovered facial expressions, emotions and facial features with mirror play and face paints, explored movement with the crazy stockings, built multi-coloured towers with the Dado Cubes, spray painted, squelched through play dough, created bubble paintings, created action paintings with cars and trucks and decorated their own tote bags with fabric paints.
